A suspected fake lawyer, Lawrence Oyedunu, who has practiced for over five years and appeared at different courts in Ogun State, has landed in police net.
Oyedunu, who claimed to have studied law at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), was arrested after allegedly obtaining the sum of N400,000 to prosecute a civil case.
Similarly, four fake Immigration officers, who specialize in defrauding expatriates in the state of huge sums of money, have also been nabbed by the police.
The five suspects, alongside 40 others, were paraded Thursday at the state police command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The other suspects were apprehended in connection with the murder, armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms, and obtaining money under false pretense.
Briefing reporters, the state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, said arms and ammunition were recovered from some of the suspects.
Ebrimson stated that the arrest of the suspects was in furtherance of the mission of the command to rid the state of crime and criminality.
